GW Sense Navigation changes - public beta 3 dated October 17, 2008. Please note: GW Sense Navigation (SenseNav) is available for all three Sense notetakers; Braille Sense Plus, Voice Sense, and Braille Sense original. The program is available as a separate purchase. The following is a list of fixes, enhancements, and changes since the last official firmware released April 22, 2008. When upgrading the firmware, all settings are restored to factory defaults. This includes Bluetooth GPS receiver pairing and any customizations made to SenseNav. Please refer to KB articles 1090 and 1092 for further instructions on the settings. The Knowledgebase section of GW Micro is located at http://www.gwmicro.com/kb/. ++ General changes between beta 2 and beta 3. 1. Fixed a problem in the address search when an address was not found. Previously you would be placed in the previous button, but the other buttons would still be there. Now if an address is not found, you are placed in the previous button, and the only other button is the cancel button along with the address and street edit box. 2. Added progress beeps when maps are loading when you first launch SenseNav. 3. Updated the GPS status priority so that when a GPS fix is acquired, the GPS status is displayed without getting interrupted by lookaround messages. ++ General changes between beta 1 and beta 2 1. Renamed pedometer to Distance Traveled. The Braille display will show dt to display the information. 2. SenseNav now remembers the distance traveled when you close it and relaunch it. Both the virtual and the live distances are remembered. 3. Fixed a problem in the backspace-i route turn list information box where the last step of the route was not showing up. Previously you could get this with space-dot-5, but not in this box. 4. Fixed a problem where -1 would be displayed when pressing enter-g and you didn't have a gps receiver connection. 5. Now when the GPS receiver obtains a satellite fix, you get a message telling you so. In addition, the G command is issued so the gps status is given. 6. Fixed a problem where replay files created with the public beta 1 would cause the Sense to lock up. The rest of this readme consists of the changes between the April 22, 2008 firmware and public beta 1. ++ General 1. SenseNav is now using Sendero SDK version 2 which adds additional capabilities and functionality. Most notably is the ability to create long routes much faster. 2. Updated the default sounds. Now there is a brief beep tone which plays before most of the sounds to help the user tell what kind of message is about to be displayed. 3. Added additional lookaround events. Now you are automatically notified of a new city, zip code, and map. Also the "lookaround street" feature was enhanced so that it is more accurate. 4. Added 3 new sounds to indicate "Lookaround street," "Lookaround city," and "Lookaround map." 5. Updated the list of lookaround abbreviations used for the Braille display. Lookaround street is ls, lookaround city is lc, lookaround map is lm, and lookaround zip code is lz. 6. Updated the way lookaround POI messages are announced. Now instead of lookaround POI being spoken, the word "lookaround" followed by the POI category is spoken to give the user an idea of what kind of POI is nearby. For example, "Lookaround shop: GW Micro." 7. Updated the way speech interrupting is handled. Now if you have a dialog box open such as when searching for an address or POI, any lookaround automatic messages do not interrupt what you are doing. The only exception is if you have a route open and a new turn in the route is approaching. 8. Added the ability to copy displayed information to the clipboard. Any time some information is displayed in a static box you can press enter-c and the information will be copied to the clipboard. You can then paste the information into a document or Email. 9. if you have a destination set, SenseNav will now remember it when you launch it in the future. ++ Options 1. Added a new configuration option called "Verbose prompts" which defaults to on. When set, command output and information includes the name as well as the data. When set to off, only the data is displayed. For example pressing the G command while it's set to on would display, "GPS accuracy: blah." Pressing the G command while it's set to off would display, "blah." 2. Added the ability to restore all SenseNav factory defaults. This can be done from the configuration dialog box or by pressing O then R. 3. Fixed a problem where the North/South/East/West indication was not given if the latitude/longitude option was set to detailed instead of short. 4. Fixed a problem where you could enter an extremely small number in the multiple repeat interval. When doing so it would make this feature unusable. Now the lowest number you can enter is 12 seconds. ++ Routes 1. Fixed the route creation distance checking so that if you press enter-d or enter-w to create an extremely long route, SenseNav will prompt you if you are sure you want to create the route. Previously the checking was only done when using the "R V" or "R P" commands. 2. Added the ability to export an open route to a text file. This will allow the route instructions, turn information, and distance of the route to be saved as a standard ASCII file which you can save for future use or Email it to others for directions. 3. Reversed the order of SenseNav prompting to close if there is an open route. Previously SenseNav prompted first, then the save route would prompt. This has now been sorted correctly so you are asked about saving the route first. 4. Fixed it so that if you have a route command enabled in the multiple repeats but there is no route open, the error message, "A route must be opened" is not voiced. Instead, that command output is silent. ++ GPS Receiver 1. Fixed problems where sometimes the GPS receiver would not connect and no indication was given. Now there are better error messages given if there are problems. 2. Fixed problems where the GPS receiver connection would be lost if performing various types of POI searches. 3. Fixed a problem where sometimes loading a large amount of maps would cause the GPS receiver connection to time out when initially launching SenseNav. ++ Misc 1. Fixed it so you can use the up/down arrow keys to view the user poi information after pressing enter on it. Previously you had to use the tab key and this was inconsistent with viewing address or POI search information. 2. Fixed a problem where the cursor would not be returned to the search string edit box if a POI search didn't find any results. 3. Added the ability to append to an existing replay file. If you start a replay file with space-q and enter the name of an existing replay file you are now prompted to either append or overwrite the file. 4. Fixed a problem where the Sense notetaker would lock up if you powered it off while SenseNav was running, then removed the memory card, then powered the notetaker back on again. 5. Changed various shortcuts and dialog box titles in the SenseNav menus so they make better sense.
