Make Firefox Sound Like Internet Explorer
by Aaron Smith on Thursday, April 26 2007One of the many reasons I switched from IE to Firefox was so that I didn't have to hear that annoying little click sound every time I selected a link. Now, I know I could have just turned it off. I know I could have gone in and disabled the sound, or even replaced it with my own, custom wav. But that's not my point. Actually, what is my point? Oh, I remember. Regardless of whether or not that little click annoyed me, it was very useful as an auditory signal of things happening for those who can't see things happening, like navigation and popups. And, in that respect, Firefox is lacking. Or it was lacking until the PopupSound extension was released.
The PopupSound extension "Plays a sound when a pop-up window is blocked. You can also configure a sound for other events such as clicking on a link or downloading a file. You can specify your own sounds in the configuration..."
You can read more on the PopupSound extension page.
