CSUN Fun!
by Jeremy Curry on Thursday, March 22 2007It’s that time of year again – time for one of the largest assistive technology tradeshows, known as CSUN. It takes place at several hotels near LAX. Since this show is in LA, there is a three hour time difference between Indiana and California. So, I’m closing in on being up for 24 hours straight in order to make up for the time difference. Keep that in mind as you read the rest of this post. Smile.
Today was a great start, as Doug’s Vista presentation was so full that people had to be turned away. Both Freedom Scientific and GW Micro gave presentations on screen readers with Vista. In the words of people who attended both sessions, “There was no comparison.” Window-Eyes is beating JAWS hands down on Vista. Of course, I’m not impartial, but this is what others are saying; not me.
On another note, we had the pleasure of announcing several products, which will soon make their way to our lists in an official post. We released the Voice Sense – similar to the Braille Sense, except with no Braille display, two new USB Braille displays (a 20 and 32 cell version called SyncBraille), and a new camera for the Portable SenseView that will enable low vision consumers to easily write with the Portable SenseView. Among these new hardware devices, we also announced that the Voice Sense and Braille Sense will also include GPS functionality later this year. Of course, this blog is an unofficial place to post this, but there will be official posts soon.
Dan, Doug, Clarence, Chris, and I have all been having a great time meeting with our customers and dealers. Several of our dealers from around the world are here, and it’s great to see them in person. Our friends from HIMS are here, and all of us are very excited about the new products that are coming out. Well, I better get to bed before my brain gets totally fried. Smile. I’m sure there will be more updates to come!
