GWKB1086 : Installing The Shoulder Strap Onto The Voice SenseProduct: Voice Sense Author: Raul Gallegos Date Added: 03/21/2008 Last Modified: 11/16/2010
These instructions are relevant to the Voice Sense with the Perkins keyboard.
Installing the shoulder strap is quite easy, but does take a
little patience. Once installed, you can quickly remove the shoulder strap,
without removing the buckles. Just follow these simple steps:
- ÂTake the Voice Sense out of its case.
- Take hold of the shoulder strap. At each end you will find two plastic
clips. Each of these clips has a part which is connected to the shoulder strap, and another
which has a little loop of string on it. This may appear to be a single piece, but in fact is
actually two separate pieces which clip together -- commonly called a Fastex buckle.
- Separate the two ends with the string loops from the part which are
connected to the shoulder strap itself. To do this, orient the buckle so that the wide part is
facing you, and your fingers are on the thin sides.
- In the middle of the thin sides you will feel a gap, and if you squeeze
this part you will feel that the middle part can be squeezed together. Squeeze this part and
pull the two sides away from each other to separate the buckle.
- When you press the middle together far enough, the two halves of the
buckle will separate easily. So now you should have 4 things -- the Voice Sense unit, the two
halves of the buckles with the two short strings on them, and the shoulder strap with the other
ends of the buckles.
- Set the shoulder strap aside for now as it won't be needed until the last
step.
- Orient the Voice Sense in front of you as you would normally use it, With
the space key closest to you and the speakers away from you.
- On the edge of the unit in each of the front corners, you will feel a
small rounded piece of plastic which sticks out a bit from the body. If you feel a little more
carefully, you'll notice that these little ears have a hole through them, and now you can see
that they are actually little plastic loops and not just tabs. These are where the buckle ends
with the strings will attach.
- Take one of the string loops and pull it out straight to make it easy to
poke through the plastic loop on the Voice Sense. Then pick a direction for inserting the
string into the plastic loop. For some, the bottom may be easier than the top It makes no
difference.
- Once you've fed the loop of string through the plastic loop on the Voice
Sense, pull it most of the way through.
- Separate the string so that it opens to an open loop and push the other
end of the buckle through it and pull the entire thing tight.
- At this point, one of the buckle halves should be securely attached to
the Voice Sense. Simply repeat steps 9 through 11 for the other side.
- The last thing is to attach the actual shoulder strap by snapping its
buckles back together with the buckles which are now attached to the Voice Sense. Just push
them together until they click.
