thanks for the idea Lloyd, but that's really meant for labels which don't
change.

What I'm doing is making a script look at the current Word form, which maybe
has no label information for the fields, and making something speak anyway.
in this case, scripting has a better way for a script to supply the field
label "on the fly" as it were.

Are you familiar with the "label field names" hotkey? Under script control,
could this mechanism provide another method to apply your labels to fields?

Hi GW or anyone,

I'm trying to write a script which will supply a needed field name (using
onChildFieldName), at times when one isn't present.

my question is: is there a way to tell that WE has no field name to work
with? I don't want to supply some text if it has a perfectly good (probably
better), descriptive name to offer the user.
