Script Central ChangesDate:
Thu, Feb 11, 2010 4:45:26 pmGreetings,
I wanted to bring your attention to a couple of things regarding
updating/adding scripts on Script Central. The first has to do with a
change in GW Toolkit 8.1.3, specifically:
# Added internal version and language header information for use with
the Check for Updates feature. Using the "Minimum Supported Window-Eyes
Version" option in the Script Details portion of Script Central, a
script author can now control the announcement of script updates for
only those versions of Window-Eyes that a script supports. No other
changes are necessary to to the Check for Updates object in existing
scripts.
In other words, when you're adding or editing a script package on Script
Central, you'll notice a new combo box titled, "Minimum Supported
Window-Eyes Version." This combo box sets, as you might have guessed,
the minimum version of Window-Eyes that your script package supports. By
default, all scripts are set to 7.0, as that was the first version of
Window-Eyes that supported scripting. If you have a script package that
depends on features found only in, say, Window-Eyes 7.11, then you would
change that combo box to be 7.11 the next time you update your script.
If a user of Window-Eyes 7.0 then checks for updates, they will be told
no updates are available (even if there is a newer version of the script
package) because the version of Window-Eyes that they're using is older
than the one you selected during your last script package update. If you
don't require a specific version of Window-Eyes for your scripts to
function, leave this combo box at 7.0.
One additional change you may notice is a check box labeled, "Send
automatic email announcement of script update." This option is checked
by default, and when checked, will cause emails regarding your script
updates to be sent to everyone who have "favorited" your scripts. If you
uncheck this check box, no emails will be sent, even if your script
package is updated.
If you have any questions regarding these, or any other Script Central
related issues, please let me know.
Thanks,
Aaron
