you can not as far as i know.
i was going through the same thing and was trying to find a program that would work like my old DOS program called personal editor 2
that would also work with w e.
try ultra edit. it has a 30 day trial. i think it costs about $24 to buy.
it will let you change to column mode and copy, cut and delete or paste by columns.
