Hi Juan,

I just got a new notebook and it came with norton internet security 2006. I find it not to be the most accessable programs.

It's workable if you fiddle with it enough, but it's a resource hog. Ditch it if you can.

what firewall/antivirus packages work the best?

I have nod32, I was told thats quite good.

I have it as well, and it seems to be quite good. The GW Micro staff recommends it, as does Leo LaPorte, a guy out here in California who does a computer show on the radio. He's quite knowledgeable about such things and I trust his judgment on that one.

I'm running a DSL connection with a Linksys router which has a firewall built in. It never gives me a lick of trouble, and if I want to, I can turn the Windows firewall on in Windows XP, which may be overkill. Using this router, model WRT54G, I went up to Steve Gibson's web site at

www.grc.com

and did a security test, where I found that my machine was running in total stealth mode, meaning that my machine couldn't be detected by any port scanner on the ports that typically get hacked. Works for me.

Hope this helps.

Tom
