Good to hear that Dell is on the quality side of things at this point.
It really seems to me that all of the companys selling consumer box
computers go back and forth on the quality standards. For a while one
of them will be putting out good stuff and then they will go to junk
for a while. I am quite sure there have been times Dell put out stuff
that wasn't worth the cardboard box it came in and HP was solid value
and quality. I haven't heard anything good about HP in any recent
time. Personally I am using a Dell desktop box a couple of years old
and thankfully after the time it broke the first time while it was
still covered by Dell, it has been decent. I really like its whisper
quiet opperation. For some reason its fans are very quiet. I like it
that way. The issue I had more than a year ago was that the CPU fan
completely on its own for no reason, dislodged itself from the CPU and
landed where it was doing nothing of any use and the machine
overheated and then would not boot back up successfully without saying
it was too warm until it was fixed. The person they sent out to do the
house call blamed me for it. He insisted I was in there tampering with
it. I never did any such thing, I had never opened the case ever. I
have no idea what he reported back to Dell, but I never heard from
them contesting anything about covering it though.
