Very similar to my own issues.
Two PCs, both running WE 7.2 with IE8 and all relevant Microsoft
patches.
Win 7 Pro exhibits this behaviour frequently, but not in a distinct
patter. In fact I unload WE and re-load it to get speech back. Other
apps do not seem to suffer from this.
Win XP Pro SP3 does not exhibit this behaviour. (only recently upgraded
to IE8 at work, so could not test this out before.)

At times I'll go to a web site and WE simply goes silent. I can alt-tab
away from the page and speech resumes but when I tab back WE goes silent
once again. All I can do is close the browser. I've had this experience
on finance.yahoo.com but not every time. And certainly with other sites
as well.
On another machine running xp and IE 8 WE 7.2 hasn't given me this
problem.
This is a brand new machine with a fresh install. Could there be a setup
issue with IE, perhaps a list of x-controls that I might not have set
properly.
This is happening pretty frequently.
Is there anything I can do?
