Uncooperative Hotkey Definition DialogDate:
Thu, Nov 6, 2008 3:25:17 amHello all:
Surely I'm not alone in my battle with this problem. I find that, not infrequently, it is nearly impossible to define a hot key in Window-Eyes.
Here is what I mean. In the Office 2003 factory sets, the capitalization status indication key is undefined by default. This hot key is one of the most useful ever devised. When, however, I try to define it as Alt plus C, Alt plus shift plus C, or even Windows plus C, I get a duplicate key message. The character is allegedly already defined as "next control" in browse mode. Of course, I know that is literally false because the letter "c" alone is "next control" in browse mode.
Checking the defined key, I find that despite pressing really hard and sometimes for a long time and sometimes even with my fingers crossed, the hot key is simply the letter "c" by itself. I've tried this on two separate IBM ThinkPad computers, and I get the same result.
Interestingly, Window-Eyes has no problem in accepting control plus shift plus "c," but that is not an optimal combination in Word because it duplicates the "copy format" command.
Is there a magic phrase I'm missing here?
Thanks in advance.
