Re: possible bug in Window-EyesDate:
Sun, Sep 14, 2008 7:56:32 pmI have been using a Realtek sound card and Windows
XP on my laptop computer ever since I purchased it in April 2007.
I find that Window-Eyes consistently has to be started manually when
coming out of hibernate mode. Sometimes when I finally get W/E launched
I hear twelve to fifteen occurrences of the two tones, and must press
the spacebar repeatedly to get rid of the "Window-Eyes is already
running" message, and sometimes I do end up re-booting the computer.
Ok, I'll fess up; sometimes I launch JAWS, which doesn't seem to have
this problem. Seriously, I wonder why W/E seems to be affected and JFW
does not. this has been the case in both Versions 6.0 and 6.1. I have
not yet tried a Beta, and I don't use standby so I don't know how my
computer would be affected in that mode.

I wonder if this is sound card specific as my Real Tech HD Audio isn't
having any problems on my laptop with stand by or hibernate.

it may not be a bug. I have had thee same problems with standby mode
and both vista and xp. I do not use it.
the problem is the sound card drivers are unloaded when you go into
standby mode and many times are not re loaded until after w e has
loaded. so w e will not work.
i don't remember about xp but with vista hybornasion mode works
better even though this turns the computer off.

Subject: possible bug in Window-Eyes
Hi, everyone,
Has anyone else noticed this situation? When I place my computer in
stand-by mode, and then try to re-start it, everything comes back
except for Window-Eyes. When I press Control-Alt-W, I get a two-note
piano sound. Apparently, there is a message on the screen that says
Window-eyes is already running. I've tried shutting down Window-Eyes
with Control-Backslash, and then Alt-F4, or the other quicker method
of Control-Insert-F4. When I try to restart window-Eyes, I still get
the same sound, and message on the screen. The only way I can fix
this finally is to re-start the computer. I guess I could always
turn off Window-Eyes first before going into stand-by mode, but I was
just wondering if there is a way to have it come up automatically
like it does on start-up.
