Wed, Jun 6, 2007 8:51:30 amThe reason I wrote originally because you mentioned Apple doesn't
address accessibility which is the reason I wrote. Smile
Regarding the Windows side, I would agree that everyone should make
Apple awhere of the accessibility issues regardless which screen reader
one is using.

First, I meant to say Apple, and not Apply. Sorry about that. Second,
accessibility on the Mac doesn't do Windows screen readers a whole lot
of good. The problem is that the Mac development team and the Windows
development team don't seem to be communicating. Once again, I would
strongly encourage anyone interested in using iTunes with any screen
reader to contact them using the form located at
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/email/#form. This is an
excellent opportunity for all of you to use your collective voice to
make change happen. They know what needs to be done to create an
accessible version of iTunes, but they don't appear to know that anyone
actually wants an accessible version. This is your time to tell them.
And remind them that you're talking about the Windows version.

Hi Aaron:
I must make a small comment here, you are correct about Itunes on the
Windows side not being very accessible however on the Mac side, it
seems as though each version of Itunes is getting more accessible.
One can access the equalizer where in previous versions a no go. One
can select radio streams, create play lists etc so even though on the
Windows side they need to address the accessibility issue but on the
Mac side, I believe Apple is addressing the accesibility issues.
Just wanted to share my thoughts. Smile

We actually had a dialog with Apply about the accessibility of iTunes.
They wanted us to tell them what they needed to do to make iTunes more
accessible. We spent some time going through the program with
Window-Eyes, and wrote up some information regarding the steps they
needed to take to make it accessible. They were very thankful for the
information, and then we never heard back, even after pinging them
several times. The problem with iTunes is iTunes, and Apple knows it.
They do not, however, seem to think that accessibility is a priority.
I strongly recommend that, if you're interested in using iTunes, you
contact them, remind them that we provided the information on making
their application accessible, and find out when they're going to
release a version that works with screen readers. You can use the form
located
here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/email/#form.

Gwmicro needs to develop some sort of support, even it berudimentary,
for Itunes -- particularly for subscribing and managing podcast
subscriptions. While I do regularly use Juice and Golden Ear which work splendidly
with WE, more and more podcasts seemingly are requiring subscribingthrough Itunes. The casts, once donwloaded, of course can be listened
with the audio player of one's own choice. If I suddenly discoveredthat JFW or Hal would give me that capability, their demos would
quickly be on my pcs
