Subject: Stopping Web Pages from Reloading Or Appearing To do So
Hello All:
I have a question for anyone who may have figured out how to fix this
problem; I believe we've discussed it before.
I was out working in the field today with a client using Window-Eyes 6.1,
Windows XP Service Pack 2, Internet Explorer 6 and a web-based application
called Ultra Teleport or something like that. It's used for quality
control which is what his job is for a major utility company.
The web-based application he uses requires that he listen to calls handled
by agents with utility customers and evaluate how well the agent did
handling the call. The form has several tables in it and I was able to
teach him to use the Window-Eyes quick keys to navigate through the form.
One problem I cannot figure out how to solve. When this gentleman is
going through the form inside the application entering data or checking
radio buttons, about every two minutes or so, he will hear a mouse click
type sound and the page will act like it's reloading, telling him how many
links, onclicks, tables and other things it has. When this happens, the
client's position inside browse mode will sometimes be lost and he'll have
to arrow up and down to find where he was. This slows him down working
with the form.
I've got flash suspended. I turned off animations and videos on web pages
in Internet Explorer. I tried turning off scripting of java appletts in
Internet Explorer and the whole page wouldn't display which tells me it's
some kind of Java Applett. I tried finding the Microsoft VM settings and
Java settings under the advance tab within tools, options, and I couldn't
find them. Nothing I did could stop this reloading type action. I spoke
to Mike at GW Technical Support and they said they'd need to see the page,
but we can't do that because it's a private application. Mike and I both
feel this is some kind of Java or Java Script thing causing this.
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced behavior like this and if so, what
you did if anything to stop it? This page behavior is similar to what the
Comcast page at www.comcast.net does. If anyone has ideas of how this
problem can be fixed and can share specific settings I should find and
change, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Ray Campbell
