Alan,

You might also look under the sounds tab of the options window and
verify that the files GWConnect is trying to play exist. An easier
approach is to close GWConnect, open %appdata%gwconnect, delete
settings.dat, and restart the program. This procedure will effectively
reset everything to the defaults the next time you run GWConnect,
including the sounds.
