it". Without doing a comprehensive audit, my guess is that most of the
ones I use don't update automatically, probably reflecting my geeky
nature and, in turn, the software I use. I take your point that an
automatic update can be convenient. For us geeks, though, it is
reassuring to have the downloaded file at hand. While my installation
of GWConnect 1.03 is running beautifully, I chose to revert to GWSkype
due to the conference call issue in V1.02. that would not have been
possible if an automatic update only was offered.
On the other hand, supporting your point, the semi-automatic updates
(the user has the choice) of Window-Eyes apps is convenient. But for
those of us who slave away behind hideously thick firewalls, those apps
have to be downloaded from the website.
In summary then, in this case a bet each way is a good thing.
