RE: GW-Connect: Microphone Volume Always Creeps Up

Well Steve, I am using an older Creative Sound Blaster Live as my secondary
sound card made in 2000 or so with Windows XP Pro . This is the card I have
my mixer running to so I'm thinkin the problem is as you have described it.

A work-around could be to use the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card as the card
that my music runs thru, but Jaws has the crunch sound with Eloquence on the
Sound Blaster Live card, so I don't see myself doing that. The Turtle beach
card is probably as old as the SB one if not a lil older (not sure if that
makes a difference?)

John,

Yes. Someone from Skype explained it as a DirectX issue that effects
cards which don't expose individual inputs to the Windows volume
control. Most notably, cards from Creative seem to exhibit this behavior
most often.

I spent nearly two weeks trying to hack around the SkypeKit behavior,
but unfortunately results weren't consistent enough to be worth
releasing. This, along with the option to disable AGC, will need to be
implemented on Skype's end.
