Rod,
Yes, we are talking about the same thing. You solution isn’t eloquent but it works very well. Thanks so much for this neat little app.

Hi Vic,
Sorry about not posting a message about my app, but I figured you’d find it using AppGet since you were looking for me to post one soon anyway.
By the way, if you want to install any of the apps for adjusting the master volume, that is, any of the apps with a name starting with RodMasterVolume, you should install RodMasterVolumeControlSuite. This is because the installation procedure of any of the other apps will ask you to uninstall the other one. The suite contains all three apps for adjusting the master volume.
Since I didn’t yet learn how to create a complex dialog, and yet I knew someone would ask me for a way of changing the number and value of presets, I set up the app to use an INI file, which is easy to edit using any editor which saves in plain text. The file you would edit is called RodMasterVolumePresetRotator.ini. Here’s the text of the section you need to edit:
[RotatorInfo]
PositionsTotal=3
Position1=10
Position2=50
Position3=100
Therefore, all you need to do is change the values of Position1 or Position2, etc., save the file, and you’re done. You can also change the PositionsTotal value, say, change it to 4, and then add a Position4 value. There are no limits to the number of presets you can create; just be sure that the PositionsTotal value corresponds to the highest preset number, that is, if PositionsTotal is 4, then the app will not look for a preset with a number larger than 4, namely, Position4.
Finally, the preset values need not be in any particular order; so, if you left the values of Position1, Position2, and Position3 the same as they are above, you could just change the PositionsTotal value to 4, add Position4, and give it a value of 75, and you’d be fine; the app would simply rotate the volume from Position3, a value of 100, to Position4, a value of 75, if you were using the Up hot key. I guess you get the idea. Smile
I hope you enjoy the app, Vic, and the other ones, too. Smile
Take care,
Rod Smile

Hey Rod,
Thanks for this great little app. Somehow I missed your message announcing it. The app works well. Is there any way to modify the presets short of editing the VBS file?

Hi Vic,
You know, my friend, I’ve been beating my breast ever since you wrote requesting an app with presets for 10, 50, and 100 percent hotkeys because, to be honest, it’s not my way to turn people down. What do you say to an app identical to the one you’re using now, RodMasterVolumeControl, that is, two hotkeys, namely, up and down, but instead of going up or down 10 percent at a time, the up key would go from 10 to 50 to 100, while down would go the other way, and both keys would wrap around at the ends, just like RodMasterVolumeControl does. This seems to be the easiest way of giving you what you would like, and I just love designing these simple apps that tickle people pink! Smile.
Let me know if this seems like it would work for you, Vic, or, better yet, give me the details of your ideal design, and I’ll work with you.
Smile.
Take care,

Hey Rod,
I was wondering if you could add some functionality to the volume control app. I would like hotkeys to set the volume to 100% and also maybe two hotkeys to set the volume to two different preset values. Here is my rationale for wanting the two preset values. When I listen to music I turn my volume up to say about 50%. When I am just working with my computer I have it set to 12%. The way it is now it takes several keystrokes to turn it up and then turn it back down. With the custom presets you could set one for the higher volume and the other for the normal volume. What do you and others think about this idea?

Hi everyone,
I have written an app to help those Window-Eyes users who have not upgraded to version 8.0 or 8.1, and yet suffer from the situation where someone has muted the master volume of the default sound card. It is called RodMasterVolumeMuteToggler. It will work for those who have upgraded to version 8.0 or 8.1, even though this feature is built in to these versions, but that’s okay. You can always uninstall it after upgrading. (smile)
The default hot key for toggling the mute state is Control-Shift-3.
Enjoy,
Rod Hutton

Rod,
Yes, we are talking about the same thing.

PositionsTotal=3
Position1=10
Position2=50
Position3=100

Smile.

Enjoy,
Rod Hutton

Here is my rationale for wanting the two preset values. When I listen to music I turn my volume up to say about 50%. When I am just working with my computer I have it set to 12%. The way it is now it takes several keystrokes to turn it up and then turn it back down. With the custom presets you could set one for the higher volume and the other for the normal volume.
