a couple of questionsDate:
Wed, Jan 30, 2013 10:08:03 amHi
I have paid for the year subscription for gw connect, I have activated gw, when my pc starts up, I don't have instant access to the net, I have to log-in, gw connect still brings up the page to optionally go on the website or press ok, if I am connected to the net before I launch gw, it bi-passes the options above and logs strait in. also, I am still occasionally getting the announcement to up-grade to window eyes, again, is there a way to stop this, and yes I have activated my gw, I went to help and pressed activate again and it asked me if I want to de-activate my gw. What am I doing wrong? The reason why I have to log-in to the net is because I use 3g net, or sometimes wifi, it is easier to use the connect to part of windows. Yes it is a bit of a pain but I am used to it.

Dear anastasia <mailto:stacy-asia@yandex.ru> ,
In my experience, regardless of the type of machine, desktop or laptop, you must manually select the input and output audio devices which a program needs before entering that program, and, as soon as the device becomes disabled, you might crash the program. If you’re lucky, you can switch to the Windows Playback and Recording devices list and choose the device you want. Programs crash because they need the device all the time that the program is running. Once the device disappears, the program doesn’t know what to do.
I wait for the day when programmers write for every possible list of situations which might occur...fat chance! I suspect that part of the problem is the operating system, Windows, is written kinda badly. I mean, if you were writing an operating system, wouldn’t you plan for failures to occur? They are bound to happen! Smile
Anyway, anastasia <mailto:stacy-asia@yandex.ru> , take care,
Rod Smile

Rod, isn’t it possible that if your input device in GWConnect fails to work there are can be two scenarios: either, if you use laptop, the input device will be switched to an internal microphone, or in case with a desktop, people in the call won’t hear you at all until
you set the input device to some external microphone?

Dear Jerry,
To begin with, could you please test your input and output devices (which should also be selected in the options menu within GWConnect), just to make sure that they are all working properly. In particular, is your microphone or headset working properly; if it is a headset you’re using, is it fully charged up in battery power, and is the recording volume high enough?
To help you, what is your Skype name, and, so I can find you, where are you located? My Skype name is “Roderick.Hutton”, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Let’s see if we can connect.
Cheers,
Rod Smile

Hello folks.
I can’t get gw connect to work right.
I’d appreciate someone helping me as much as they can.
See here’s what happens.
I make a call, it ends as soon as a percon picks up.
This is true also for skype calls too.
Then I get this message in my history log.
Call ended with +989xxx1976. Duration: Unavailable. Failed because
Unknown. Failed because recording failed on 2013-01-27 at 21:44:51
How do I fix this issue.t
this is strange to me.
But the lady on the skype support chat said that my calls should be going through fine and to check with the folks that make GW Connect. On their end it looks to them like I should be alright in receiving skype out and calling regular land line numbers with skype in.
Thanks folks for all of your help.
Jerry Mader.
