GW Micro Announces Braille Sense Firmware 5.0
Mar-13-2008GW Micro and HIMS introduced the Braille Sense three years ago at the CSUN conference and this year we have another important announcement for this terrific product.
It has been a year since we released version 4.0 of the Braille Sense firmware. Since January 2007, everyone has had a chance to enjoy all the benefits of the 4.0 firmware for this feature-packed note taker. As always, we are constantly working to bring you a stable product, and the Braille Sense is no different.
At last! Version 5.0 of the Braille Sense firmware is released and available for download. This new version provides several improvements and enhancements over the 4.0 firmware.
This upgrade provides two important changes. One is that the operating system has been upgraded from WinCE 4.0 to WinCE 5.0. The second is support for our popular GPS navigation utility, GW Sense Navigation.
With the inclusion of WinCE 5.0, you can now take advantage of the latest Wi-Fi standard, 802.11g. Please understand if you purchased a CF Wi-Fi card in the past it may have to be replaced to use this latest standard or new encryption options. Contact our support department,

GW Sense Navigation, or SenseNav for short, is the latest way-finding product that many people have enjoyed with the Voice Sense. Now Braille Sense users have that option too. If you are interested, please keep in mind you will need to purchase a new, USB Bluetooth adapter and the SenseNav product from GW Micro, sales@gwmicro.com or your local dealer.
The best way to upgrade to this new firmware is by using the online update from the Braille Sense by pressing U twice from the main menu. Then choosing the Upgrade Online option. The Braille Sense will require an active wireless or LAN Internet connection in order for the online upgrade to work. If you do not wish to use the online upgrade, you can upgrade the firmware by using the Offline option. To do this, you will need to download the firmware from our web site.
You can download any available firmware files from the Braille Sense downloads section of our web site. The direct URL for it is http://www.gwmicro.com/Braille_Sense. Here you will find a link to the new 5.0 firmware. When you choose this firmware link, you will see a link to the change log file, which lists all the changes made since version 4.0.
