Braille Sense 4.0 Beta 3 is Now Available!
Jan-03-2007GW Micro is proud to announce the release of Braille Sense 4.0 Beta 3. We have been hard at work resolving many of the issues found during the beta 2 cycle. Thank you to everyone who participated, and provided feedback regarding the second public beta of Braille Sense 4.0.
Now is your opportunity to download, install, and test Braille Sense 4.0 Beta 3.
We are not accepting feature suggestions at this time, but we are looking for feedback regarding the current features and fixes that Braille Sense 4.0 Beta 3 has to offer.
The following are just a few of the enhancements that were made from 4.0 Beta 2 to 4.0 Beta 3.
- You can now use SPACE-DOT-6 to move to Same Field Different Record, and SPACE-DOT-3 to move to Same Field Previous Record, after doing a search in the Database Manager. These keys will work if you have more than one record displayed after doing a search.
- We fixed a problem where some documents that were being transfered via ActiveSync would show up as blank in the Braille Sense Word Processor.
- We removed "pwd" as an option in the Braille Sense Word Processor. If you want to save a document as a Word document, you will want to choose "doc" as your document type when saving your document in the Braille Sense Word Processor.
- We fixed a problem where some e-mail messages would not open in the Braille Sense e-mail program.
- We fixed a lockup that could occur when trying to forward or reply to an e-mail message.
- We fixed a problem in Grade 2 Braille, where DOT-7 was added to words such as, many, father, had, etc. Now you should see DOTS-4-5-6 instead of DOTS-4-5-6-7 on the braille display.
- the character limitation when editing the Memo field in the Braille Sense Schedule Manager should now be fixed.
- We added a location field in the Schedule Manager.. This should now sync better with the calendar in Microsoft Outlook.
- We fixed the error message that was displayed if you tried to upgrade offline, without the upgrade file present on a USB stick or compact flash card.
- A backup restore option for backing up your database has been added in the Backup Restore option under Utilities. In addition an option has been added in the Database Manager itself to either prompt you when exiting or to always backup the Database.
- We fixed a problem with playing files in the Media Player when using Braille only. Now when playing a file and your speech is turned off the Braille Sense will show the title of the file followed by playing if the file is being played, or pause if you have paused the file. Also the Media Player keys on the front of the Braille Sense should now work as expected when using Braille only.
Before you get started, here are a few important notes regarding the beta:
- GW Micro and its affiliates are not responsible for any damage or data loss that might occur as a result of testing this software. Remember, this is a beta. This is not a final release and should be treated as such. This beta software has been made available for your continued input regarding the features and stability that the Braille Sense is most notable for.
- It is not a requirement that you use this software. Rather, it is a choice. We value your feedback and opinions. It should be noted, however, that by feedback and opinions, we mean reports on the features that we already have. We're not looking for new feature suggestions, as the specifications for the Braille Sense 4.0 Upgrade are already complete. Instead we would like you to comment on whether what we say works actually works or not. Spend some time trying each of the new features to make sure that the Braille Sense delivers the most "Rock Solid" performance. We're not a "release candidate today/production tomorrow" kind of company. Your feedback and testing on the current features and issues of Braille Sense 4.0 Beta 2 are what determines the success of this program.
