Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 is Now Available!
Nov-20-2006
Greetings,
GW Micro is proud to announce the release of Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3, the 3rd and final beta of Window-Eyes 6.0. We have been hard at work resolving many of the issues found during the entire beta cycle. Thank you to everyone who participated, and provided feedback regarding your Window-Eyes beta experience.
If you're familiar at all with GW Micro, you know we're committed to providing the most stable, reliable, "rock solid" software releases to our users. As our manual states: We at GW Micro have always been under the assumption that having to reboot your computer because of an error is far more than just an annoyance; it's unacceptable. Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 demonstrates that commitment by fixing several stability related issues found post beta 2, and continues to lead the way in software you can depend on.
As previously mentioned, this is the final beta of the Window-Eyes 6.0 beta cycle. If you have major issues that have not been resolved, we need to know now, as Window-Eyes will RTM very soon. Note that we are not looking for feature requests at this time, but rather show-stopping issues that would affect the final Window-Eyes 6.0 release.
Before you get started, here are a few important notes regarding the beta:
1. You SHOULD NOT install this software over any other version of Window-Eyes less than 5.5 (demo or non-demo). Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 may be installed over Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 2, or Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 1, but neither beta 1 nor beta 2 is required to be installed for beta 3. It is your responsibility to make and maintain a back up of your current working version. This beta version of Window-Eyes will expire. When it does, you are expected to either re-install Window-Eyes 5.5, or install the official Window-Eyes 6.0 release when it is available (cost may be applicable depending on your current version and/or date of purchase).
2. Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 does not support Windows 9x/Me, and will not install on any operating system older than Windows 2000. Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 may be installed under Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center, and Windows Server 2003.
3. GW Micro and its affiliates are not responsible for any damage or data loss that might occur as a result of testing this software. Remember, this is a beta. This is not a final release and should be treated as such. This beta software has been made available for your continued input regarding the features and stability that Window-Eyes is most notable for.
4. It is not a requirement that you use this software. Rather, it is a choice. We value your feedback and opinions. It should be noted, however, that by feedback and opinions, we mean reports on the features that we already have. We're not looking for new feature suggestions, as the specifications for Window-Eyes 6.0 are already complete. Instead we would like you to comment on whether what we say works actually works or not. Spend some time trying each of the new features to make sure that Window-Eyes still delivers the most "Rock Solid" performance. We're not a "release candidate today/production tomorrow" kind of company. Your feedback and testing on the current features and issues of Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 are what determines the success of this program. Comments should be sent to support@gwmicro.com.
5. Before installing this beta, you must make sure that your system clock is set to the correct date and time. Neglecting to do so could cause your copy of Window-Eyes to become a demonstration copy (if it is not already).
6. If you are using a Dongle, Everlock, or LTO copy of Window-Eyes, make sure you download the corresponding Beta version. Downloading and installing the incorrect beta version could result in your Window-Eyes copy becoming a demo, in which case you will need to uninstall and re-install Window-Eyes 5.5.
With that out of the way, head over to www.gwmicro.com/beta, and download your copy of Window-Eyes 6.0 Beta 3 today.
