by Vic Beckley This app is rated 3 out of 5 stars with 2 ratings. XML Feed for Device Status 1.02

This script speaks the status of devices in Device Manager as you arrow to them. For example, if a device is disabled, has a problem, or is working correctly. If now works under Windows Vista and Windows 7. It works differently than in Windows XP. See the help information for details. This is my first script and comments are welcomed. Let me know of any problems or side effects the script might cause.

2/27/2009 8:55:36 PMChanges in Device Status 1.01 Added Turkish localization. This was done by Selahattin Aydin. Much thanks. Changes in Device Status 1.0: The script now works with Vista although differently than XP as described below. Under XP pressing Alt-Windows-D will bring up a list of any devices that are disabled or not working. Arrow to a device and press enter and you will be focused on that device in Device Manager. Press Escape or the Cancel button and you will exit the dialog. Under Vista pressing Alt-Windows-D will focus the first branch in the Device Manager tree that is expanded. When a branch has a device that is not working properly, that branch is expanded when you first open Device Manager. You then have to investigate that branch to find the problem. Under both operating systems you are informed if there are no bad devices. I also added the Alt-Windows-E shortcut to open a new message in your default mail program already addressed to me. I would like to hear how people like the script and if it does not work as advertised I also shortened the status descriptions. For example, before it would say "This device is working properlyNow it just says "OK." I hope someone gets some use out of this script. enjoy!

2/27/2009 8:55:36 PMSelahattin Aydin 1.01 sürümündeki degisiklikler: Bu sürümle Türkçe mesajlar eklendi ve script tamamen Türkçelestirildi. Katkilarindan dolayi Selahattin Aydin'a tesekkür ederim.

Version 0.6

1/6/2009 11:11:08 AMI significantly changed how the script works with version 0.5. It much more reliably speaks the devices and their status. The status is now spoken after the device name. I fixed a problem where the script would get flaky when arrowing quickly through the list of devices. With version 0.6 I fixed the updating feature. I didn't realize it was broken. It now works. Comments welcome.
