This script will look up product information for a bar code. Bar codes can be found on food packages, CDs, books, medicine, and many other items. It works best with a bar code scanner connected to your computer. Alternatively, you can manually type in a code to look up information. If an item is not found, you can submit information for possible inclusion. You can also submit information to improve existing products.

The information is derived from BCScan, which uses databases of over 10 million items including Amazon.com and other store products, Directions for Me, a free service featuring packaging informaton for over 360,000 products provided by Horizons for the Blind,>/a> a book database with over 5 million entries, and over 1 million grocery and household items.

New in V2.0: This app now supports information from DirectionsForMe.org, a service of Horizons for the Blind. Context-sensitive help is now available by pressing F1 in the BCScan window. This feature requires Window-Eyes 7.5. When reopening the BCScan window in the same session, the previous result will again be shown. When tabbing to the output box, the cursor is now placed at the top for easier reading. Added link to the Directions for Me website in the app menu and the program itself. Removed restrictions on entering non-numeric characters. This may help with some cut and paste codes. The app is now encrypted
