Lookup Term 2.2

by Jamal Mazrui This app is rated 4 out of 5 stars with 7 ratings. XML Feed for Lookup Term 2.2

Press Alt-F7 to look up a term from reference sources on the web (you may associate this key with the Microsoft Word ones for a spell check or thesaurus lookup, F7 or Shift-F7). Default sources are TheFreeDictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Wikipedia.org. A dialog lets you input a lookup term and manage web sources. Type a term consisting of one or more words. The default is the word at the focus position, if any. The default Lookup button searches the sources that are currently enabled. Resulting text is spoken and saved to the file LookupTerm.txt in the script folder. This file is then opened with the program associated with .txt files. Checkboxes let you determine whether a source is enabled, and whether all its page text is extracted or only tables. Add, Modify, and Remove buttons let you manage sources in the list. The URL for a source should include the token %term% where the lookup term should be substituted. The Defaults button restores original source settings. This global script requires GW Toolkit and Homer Shared Object.

I love this App. Would it be possible to add a feature that lets us define strings of text for each resource to be filtered out so they aren't written into the resulting .txt file? I use the pons dictionaries a lot, and on their sites it says "powered by acapela text to speech" a lot, probably these are links on the webpage to listen to pronunciation of words. I'd like to be able to delete this string from my text files, so I don't have to listen to it all the time when I look up a word in one of the Pons dictionaries. Thank you.

Very useful script for quickly discovering or verifying definitions of words and/or synonyms while in any program. One of my very favorite scripts and use it constantly.
